Old Index 2 before 2002 — download 1985–2002 records online
जुनी इंडेक्स २ — १९८५ ते २००२ चे दस्त, उप-निबंधक कार्यालयात न जाता.
If you searched IGR Maharashtra for a document registered in the 1980s or 1990s and got nothing, you are not alone. Outside Mumbai the government's online records mostly begin in 2002. The usual advice is to apply at the Sub-Registrar office with the document number and wait 7–15 days — if you even know the document number.
Mahasuchi has Index II data from 1985 onwards for every district. Search by village and gut / survey / CTS number, and the report shows every registration year by year, so you can follow the chain of title back more than 40 years. When that report shows the document number and year, you can request the officer-signed copy without a trip to the Sub-Registrar.

Frequently asked questions
Are pre-2002 entries from the public record?
Yes. Where a document was registered, it is part of the public Index 2. The government free search often does not show those years outside Mumbai. Mahasuchi compiles them into the same information-copy report. It is not a government certificate.
Why is Index 2 before 2002 not available on IGR Maharashtra?
IGR digitised most Sub-Registrar offices from 2002 onwards. The free search at freesearchigrservice shows 1985 onwards only for Mumbai and selected offices, so for most of Maharashtra an index 2 before 2002 returns "not available" online. The paid eSearch has the same gap.
How do I get 1990s Index 2 for my land?
Select your district, taluka and village on Mahasuchi and enter the gut or survey number. One search covers 1985 to 2026, including the 1990s.
Which districts have old Index II on Mahasuchi?
All 36 districts of Maharashtra, from 1985 onwards.
Do I still need to visit the Sub-Registrar office?
For a title check, the Mahasuchi report is enough. If a bank or court wants an officer-signed certified copy, request a signed document online: we confirm the deed on e-Praman and the signed PDF is added to Downloads, typically within 1 week.
What is the price for old records?
The same as any Index II report: ₹999 + GST (₹1178.82) for all years from 1985 to 2026 on one property number.
